Brandy “Faces of PTSD”

My name is Brandy. I have been an RCMP officer since 2003. I have been living with PTSD for many years but was just recently diagnosed. It took me a long time to admit that I needed help and to realize that PTSD is not a weakness. This is part of my life and I’m lucky to have others to support me in learning to manage. A family member said to me, ” A war vet once said to me that PTSD is like a dog on a leash permanently attached to your side. Sometimes it wants to lead the way but you have to rein it back in and keep going in the direction you choose.”
